Your Lie In April - Review
Synopsis : Kōsei Arima was a piano prodigy until his mother died when he was eleven years old. The shock of losing her made him lose any interest in piano, and his life has felt monotonous ever since. Then, when he's fourteen, his childhood friend Tsubaki introduces him to her classmate Kaori, a free-spirited violinist. Her enthusiasm reignites his interest in music and in life. (Source : ANN)
Before I start, I want to say don't let the dry synopsis scare you from watching it. It's impossible for a synopsis to grasp the real feel of an entire anime. Although, before I saw it, I was discouraged to see it because it sounded like a boring story. Oh shi* was I wrong. It's not my typical watch with it's genres being : comedy, drama, psychological, and romance, but as soon as I started watching it, I was hooked.
Plot story 9/10
The story revolves around a discouraged Kosei alongside his friends trying to get life back into him. They made an amazing job of tying everything together. They give small hints, and foreshadow many things throughout the entire anime and everything is answered eventually. I finished Your Life in April with satisfaction, since I felt nothing was left uncovered. I'm a hard critique on that point, i'm usually disappointed some things were left uncovered but not in this anime.
Characters 10/10
Every supporting character was perfect. Everyone added a special spice that complimented the story. No one seemed like they should've been left out, everyone had a special role. Their personalities really did make the story as amazing as it was.
Animation/ Design 9.5/10
I simply loved the animation and design. The colors were very vivid, and rich with color. The characters were very well drawn and animated.
Audio soundtrack 10/10
This anime is all about music, and they did not fail. The soundtrack was amazing, perfectly fitting every scene. The live music by Kosei and the other performers was amazing. My ears were ringing with satisfaction throughout the entire anime. No complaints from me at all and definitely one of the best composed anime music-wise I've seen.
I strongly recommend this anime if you're looking for something sweet with endless emotion. This anime does a great job of showing exactly what each character is feeling, which flawlessly intertwines with the background music and actions. Even if comedy, drama, psychological, and romance aren't your favorite genres, I think anyone can grow to love this one. It took me by surprise like a storm, it's an amazing anime.
