Title(s) : The Devil is a Part-Timer!, Hataraku Maou-sama!
Synopsis : Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As "conquering the world" are the only skills the Devil King possesses—and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation—he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses! (Source : MAL)

A few days ago, while looking for a new anime to watch I stumbled upon “The Devil is a Part-Timer!”. The ironic name caught my attention more than anything, so I decided to watch it. After finishing it, I wasn't exactly amazed by it but it's definitely entertaining.
Plot/Story 7/10
The story revolves around The Devil King Sadao, after he gets his ass kicked in his own country, he's forced to retreat into a different world. Now he's in a different hell, commonly known as Earth. He's then forced to adapt to his new temporary life as he looks for a way back to his planet. In a way, he's forced to do a lot of things. What a pathetic king, right? The anime is pretty lighthearted, despite it featuring demons that could probably scare the soul out of the majority of us in real life. Unless your Naruto, born into unfortunate life circumstances and forced to cope with ridiculously ugly creatures. The plot is definitely unique, I mean, where else is a king downgraded to working in the equivalent of McDonald's? The anime does have it's funny, mostly ironic, moments but they're not funny enough to make you spit out your drink near your inconveniently positioned loved one that could possibly backhand you for it. I think the story this anime brings is best to watch when you have nothing else to watch. Don't let me catch you watching this instead of Hunter x Hunter, or we'll have problems.
Characters 6.5/10
I grew to like the main character, Sadao and his underling, Lucifer. Although, besides those two characters, the rest didn't exactly rub me in the same creepy, yet loveable way. Between an annoying girl, Chiho, after Sadao’s heart, and the crazy angel, Emi, always stalking and failing to do her job right, I wasn't amazed. Sadao is the most interesting character, turning from being a Demon King to a normal citizen and his change of personality. Lucifer in my opinion is the second best character because his exaggerated and laid back personality made me chuckle. Yes, chuckle, people still say that ok? Geez. The rest of the characters, I'd pile up together and put them in the same category : average.
Animation/Design 7/10
Have you ever watched something so bad in quality and questioned if it was made in 1960? Well, you don't have too, because this obviously wasn't made in 1960. The animations are decent, which adds up to decent fighting scenes. The characters are nicely drawn with just enough detail to make them shine.
Audio/Soundtrack 6/10
The soundtracks chosen aren't ear candy. Nothing really caught my attention, and it was mostly overshadowed by whatever was happening in the anime. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was amazing.
Overall 7/10
Overall, (and yes, yes I do realize using overall after naming the last headline overall isn't very attractive because I keep using the word overall) it shouldn't be a top priority to watch. If you have nothing to watch, and you really want something to watch before you find something amazing, this is a perfect choice. Besides that, I wouldn't really recommend it. It's not super action packed, it's not too heavy on comedy and it's just an average anime.
