Seisen Cerberus - Review
Title(s) : Seisen Cerberus: Ryuukoku no Fatalités
Sypnosis : Sword and magic rule in the continent of Kuna'ahn. In this continent are three powerful nations: the Holy Kingdom of Amoria, the Kingdom of Ishilfen, and the Kingdom of Vanrodis, which share a delicate balance of power. Should disaster befall any one of the three nations, war would spread throughout the continent. Also residing there is the feared "Evil Dragon" Daganzord, an unstoppable force that leaves nothing but scorched land and destruction wherever he goes. Hiiro's parents, Bairo and Kismitete, joined other sorcerers in a magic ritual ten years ago in an attempt to seal Daganzord, but failed when someone interfered. The ritual would later become known as the "Balbagoa Tragedy." After being rescued by Giruu, young Hiiro set out to learn swordsmanship so that he could avenge his parents. Now, ten years later, sixteen-year-old Hiiro leaves home on a journey to slay the Evil Dragon, and Giruu feels he has no choice but to accompany him. In the search for the Evil Dragon, Hiiro encounters people of various races who join in his quest to eliminate Daganzord... but will Hiiro really succeed in overcoming the destiny he took upon himself and defeating Daganzord?! Plot/Story 6/10
The story is pretty generic : a child is orphaned due to unfortunate situations, and then trains day and night to avenge whatever it is he wants to avenge. I have no problem with this fact, but I do have a problem with the author not having been able to add something not common in this kind generic anime. Obviously every anime is unique in it’s own way, but that doesn’t hide the fact that some just don’t catch your interest because you feel like you’ve seen it before. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible.
Characters 6/10
From almost any anime I watch, I usually at least like ONE character. In Seisen Cerberus, I found no character that I liked. The MC was kind of annoying, along with the little dinosaur that was just, well, random, and not in a good way. Although, the MC’s woman companion, Saraato, was not annoying, which I really liked. Which is pretty common in these kind of animes like Sakura in Naruto, and Orihime in Bleach. *sigh* Overall, most of the characters aren’t very exciting, and character development was almost nonexistent here. We learned a lot about the MC’s story, but even that was a little vague.
Animation/Design 7.5/10
I have no major complaints in this department. The colors were very bright and engaging, although some background sceneries were very dull. The characters themselves were nicely drawn and animated. Lastly, the fight scenes were ok, but my problem is more with how long the fights took than how they were animated. Most fights were very short, and not very exciting.
Overall 6/10
It wasn’t easy writing a review for this, and I wouldn’t even call this a review. It was not worth my time, and I would recommend watching this only if you really just can’t find anything else to watch. It shouldn’t be a top priority to watch, but if you have nothing else, then like I said, go right ahead. It’s genres are clearly shown throughout the anime, so if they’re part of your top 5 genres, then you might “like” it, but probably not “love” it.
