Synopsis : During Prohibition, the law held no power and the mafia ruled the town. The story takes place in Lawless, a town thriving on black market sales of illicitly brewed liquor. Avilio returns to Lawless after some time away, following the murder of his family in a mafia dispute there. One day, Avilio receives a letter from a mysterious sender, prompting him to return to Lawless for revenge. He then infiltrates the Vanetti family, the ones responsible for his family's murder, and sets about befriending the don's son, Nero, to set his vengeance in motion. Honestly, this was one of the best series opening episodes I’ve ever seen. I know it’s unrelated to this anime’s genre, but it gave me a thrilling feel like the opening of a scary movie would start off like. The art was beautiful, and fits the settings theme. The MC’s personality is bad-ass, he looks emotionally strong, fearless, and devious. It’s definitely not a soap-opera kind of drama, it looks like it’ll be a life or death kind of drama, my favorite kind. It’s impossible to see right now where this anime is headed, but I am very pleased with it’s opening episode. I would definitely say it’s worth the time of day.
